The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors in the gardens of the ruins, followed by an indoor reception and dance party in the temple.

Expect warm, humid weather in the mid-to-high 70s, with a cool-down into the mid-to-high 50s later in the evening. There’s also a slight chance of rain, so dress for the humidity and bring a light layer. Guatemala likes to keep things interesting.

We briefly considered sending everyone a bride-approved uniform, but that felt wildly outdated—and far too limiting for the incredible personalities joining us.

Instead of a traditional bridal party, we’re inviting all of our guests to become part of the visual story. Please incorporate at least one color from our wedding palette into your outfit so our photos feel effortlessly cohesive.

Beyond that, have fun with it. Be sexy, bold, creative, elegant, playful, or all of the above. We want you to look like yourself, just slightly more celestial.

As much as we’d love to hold you hostage for an entire week, we understand that work, life, and personal preferences exist. Join us for as much, or as little, as feels right for you.

We’re simply sharing where we’ll be frolicking in case you’d like to come along. The two main events are the welcome cocktail party on Wednesday, April 21, and the wedding on Thursday, April 22.

Technically, even those are optional...but skipping the wedding may raise questions about whether you’re actually cool.

Antigua has more than 100 hotels and apartments, with options for nearly every budget, vibe, and preferred level of fabulousness.

Because our wedding will not be hosted by a hotel, traditional room blocks aren’t available. Thankfully, Antigua is charmingly compact, and most accommodations are within a nine-block radius.

One loving but persistent warning: April is peak wedding season. So, like an annoying little sister with the persistence of a middle brother, we will continue nudging you to book sooner rather than later. Many places are fully refundable, and booking early usually means better prices, which is excellent news for our money-conscious travelers and anyone who enjoys keeping more of their coins.

Generally, booking three to four months out works well. Booking four to six months ahead, however, may get you better options and leave a little more room in the budget for souvenirs, libations, and other extremely necessary purchases.

When traveling between La Aurora airport and Antigua, plan an additional 2-hour buffer to your destination

Antigua is about 50 minutes from the airport on a good day. On a traffic-has-other-plans day, the drive can take up to 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Guatemala is beautiful, vibrant, and absolutely worth adding to your travel list. Think volcanoes, coffee farms, stunning architecture, and food that may challenge both your restraint and your waistband.

When we visited in July, we experienced a warm, welcoming culture with travelers and transplants from all over the world. The less adventurous among you will still find familiar comforts like Starbucks and Little Caesars. For anyone hoping to return home as a slightly changed person, the climb up Acatenango and the local cuisine are waiting for you.

Guatemala is a developing country, so we recommend reviewing current travel guidance before your trip and avoiding areas identified as higher risk. Antigua is a well-traveled tourist destination, but standard precautions still apply. We’ll include links to the local embassy and Guatemala’s tourist assistance resources for anyone who wants additional peace of mind.

April is typically warm and dry, with sunny days and cooler evenings. Pack breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and a light layer for nighttime.

Wi-Fi is widely available, but we recommend adding an international phone plan, purchasing a local SIM card, or downloading an offline map before arrival. Antigua is wonderfully walkable, but getting lost is considerably less charming when your phone has no service.

Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Antigua. For cash, avoid exchanging money at the airport if getting the best rate matters to you. You will get a better rate by sending yourself money through Western Union and picking up Quetzals in town. ATMs are also widely available for anyone who values convenience over squeezing every last cent from the exchange rate.

Perfect! The bride is physically incapable of not working and has decided to moonlight as a travel agent, with her devoted groom drafted as an unpaid assistant.

We’ve planned the week with plenty of opportunities to eat, explore, wander, and get into a reasonable amount of trouble. We’ve also included a list of restaurants, sights, and activities, all vetted with help from locals who know what they’re talking about.

Follow the itinerary, ignore it completely, or create your own beautifully chaotic version. This is your vacation too; just don’t be shocked when Guatemala has you pricing extended return flights the night before you leave.

Our vegetarian and sober peeps are very much accounted for.

Antigua has plenty of vegetarian options, and we must give a special shoutout to **Troccoli** for its vegetable antipasto, which is honestly worth writing home about. We’ll also have vegetarian options during cocktail hour and a portobello mushroom entrée at the reception.

As for drinks, our son has somehow developed the refined palate of a tiny aristocrat well before adulthood, so naturally, we’ve created a non-alcoholic menu with enough sophistication to keep things interesting. No sad soda water with a lime wedge over here.
